    Don’t Miss a Thing

    • I usually do a lot of research before any trip, which was also the case when my mum and I visited Iceland a few weeks ago. However, I was caught by surprise when we approached Diamond Beach where I had planned a stop and saw all the enormous icebergs (and large crowds) on the other side of the road. I don’t know how I could have missed putting Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon on our itinerary, but for once it was nice being amazed by a sight I hadn’t planned visiting beforehand.
    • Kirkjufell is the most photographed sight in Iceland, and I guess I understand why. My mum and I fought against time to make it to Kirkjufell in time for sunset during our second day in Iceland. We drove a little faster than what was allowed, and I couldn’t stop thinking we’d miss it. Luckily, we didn’t. When we got there the sun was about to set, and we saw the remarkable mountain under the most beautiful winter conditions.
    • Of all the 10,000+ waterfalls in Iceland, you’d probably think it’d be difficult to choose a favourite one. For me, it wasn’t. The moment I saw the first glimpse of Goðafoss in North Iceland, it instantly became the one I liked the most. There’s something purely magical about this place!
    • Driving down the road to Stokksnes wasn’t as I had hoped for at first. It was foggy and cloudy and impossible to see more than a few metres ahead. However, I had seen the beauty of this place on so many photos, and I was eager to see it with my own eyes. So we drove there, my mum and I. And without being very optimistic, we waited in the car and hoped it would clear up. It didn’t, and after around 30 minutes of looking out at the pure white view, we gave up. My mum started the car, and while we were slowly heading back making sure we stayed on the narrow road, the fog started lifting. It was like a miracle, and I almost couldn’t believe what was now in front of me!
    • Over tourism - When I went to Italy last summer I was eager to visit Cinque Terre. If I knew what was waiting, I’m not sure I would have gone. No doubt, Cinque Terre is beautiful, and I was captivated by the charm of these five charming little towns. However, I was also baffled at all the people that had found their way to this place. - Over tourism is a(nother) problem we need to face in 2019. Authorities try their best to deal with mass crowds at the most touristy places worldwide, which is great. However, I believe we all need to take responsibility and ask ourselves why we want to visit certain places and maybe consider other factors than just how beautiful a place is next time we travel. - 📷 Olympus OM-D E-M1 MKII and 12-100mm lens, ISO 200, f/6.5, 1/200.
    • Uluru - Watching the changing colours of Uluru as the sun slowly rises is an experience I believe everyone should have at least once in a lifetime. It’s simply breathtaking! - I’ve written a complete guide to Australia’s Red Centre with all the information you need about Uluru and other outback landmarks in the area. Link in bio. - 📷 Olympus OM-D E-M1 MKII and 12-100mm lens, ISO 200, f/4.5, 1/125.
